NOHS Community Web Site
On July 13, 2006, I launched the new members-only web site for one of my client organizations, the National Organization for Human Services. The new NOHS Community is an enhanced member benefit that will allow more effective communication and networking among the membership.
NOHS Community is built on the Joomla open-source content management program, with the Community Builder add-on component and modules. Features include:
- Your Member Info update form, where members can also change their NOHS Community username and password
- Membership Directory
- ELink newsletter/blog
- Resource Library, including Curriculum Guides, Education Resources, Practice Case Studies, Practice Resources, Public Policy Guides, Organizational Development, and Just for Fun
- Publication Archives, including PDF files of the organization journal and newsletter
- Community Forum, with special areas for educators, students and practitioners
- Member Blogs, including the ability for members to enter their own blog entries
- Links
- News Feeds

My role included installation of the Joomla, Community Builder and additional programs, customization of the template, customization of the user table and profile table, conversion of the offline Access membership database into CSV format and uploading to the online database, development of the NOHS Community logo, and preparation and uploading of the site content. As the association manager, I am also responsible for maintaining the content and facilitating communication on the site.
