Church Marketing
Over the recent months, I have become more and more interested in how churches, especially Catholic parishes, use the Internet. I came across the Church Marketing Sucks web site a few months ago and keep returning to learn more about their philosophy.
Now before you get excited about the terms they use, consider their motto: “To frustrate, educate and motivate the church to communicate, with uncompromising clarity, the truth of Jesus Christ.” Today, I am interested in comments on “What’s Broken in Church?” It focuses on considering how your church looks to the newcomer. What terms do we use at church that might not make a good first impression? What about our parish might not feel as inclusive as possible? Does our web site accurately convey what makes our parish unique? These are all questions that are important to all of us. Are we telling God’s story effectively?
